The Truth about Leaks vs Storm Damage

Many people discover leaks after a big storm, this is very common. What does this mean? Did the storm damage your roof? If not why did it start leaking after the storm? The truth of the matter is storms often have high winds of 20-30 mph. These higher winds drive rain into places where it doesn’t normally go. It creates sideways rain, which causes problems. It takes wind 50+ mph generally to damage your shingles. So the moral of the story is wind exposes existing issues with the roof more that dama ages the roof in general.
